Making a petticoat into a full-on tutu?
I would like a tutu for a costume, but I only have a dull white petticoat with just one layer of tulle.
What would be the best way to add on more tulle?
Also what dye would you suggest for a bright yellow color?

A costume tutu is very easy to make. You could try to dye it with spray dyes. Your local fabric store or craft store should have it. It might not take, but it’s worth a try. I was able to do it with some tulle I used for a child’s costume.
Dye it first and then re-make it. To re-make it, fold the bottom hem of the petticoat up to the waistband and sew it there. Then carefully cut along the fold. Cut it again to shorten if necessary. Fluff it up and if you want more pouf, then add a couple more layers of store bought tulle. Cover the waistband with a wide ribbon and you’re there!
