How to keep my fingers from slipping on other strings when I play my guitar?
OK I just got my guitar today and every time I play my fingers slip on other strings.I’m new to playing the guitar but I’m really getting frustrated that my fingers keep slipping plus they hurt when I play.
First guitar?
Don’t get frustrated so easily. Think of it like an initiation, a necessary evil that you have to conquer in order to be able to play guitar. Pain in your fingers is normal. That will go away with time, after you’ve built callouses. You also have to build muscle memory. At first, trying to put your fingers in the right place feels like something that has to be forced. Over time, your fingers will “remember” where to go with a minimal amount of thought.
I know it sounds cliche to be told “just practice,” but the truth is, that’s pretty much all there is to it. Stick with it and the problems you’re having will fade away.
